Terms & Conditions
Last updated 11 September 2026
These terms govern your use of PrimeSeat and any reservation you make through it. By making a booking you agree to them. Please read the Refund & Cancellation Policy too — it forms part of these terms.
Who we are
PrimeSeat is operated by a sole proprietor trading as PrimeSeat, based in South Africa. You can reach us at enquiries@primeseat.co.za.
What we do
PrimeSeat lets you reserve a specifictable at a participating restaurant, rather than a general booking where seating is assigned on arrival. We are a booking service. We are not the restaurant, we do not prepare or serve your food, and we do not employ the restaurant's staff.
Your dining experience, food, service and the premises are the responsibility of the restaurant you book.
Making a reservation
When you select a table we hold it for a short period while you complete payment. If payment is not completed in that window, the table is released and may be taken by someone else. A reservation is only confirmed once payment has been received and you have received a confirmation email with a booking reference.
You must provide accurate details. We send your confirmation, and any changes, to the email address you supply.
Prices and payment
All prices are shown in South African Rand (ZAR). Prices are the full amount payable. PrimeSeat is not a registered VAT vendor, so no VAT is charged. You may be charged a deposit, a premium seat fee, or both — the exact amounts, and the total, are always displayed before you pay. There are no delivery or handling charges.
The deposit is credited to your bill at the restaurant. The premium seat fee is our service fee for securing your specific table and is not credited to your bill.
Payments are processed by PayFast. We never receive or store your card details.
Cancellations and refunds
Cancellations, no-shows and refunds are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy. In short: your deposit is refundable if you cancel more than 24 hours before your sitting; the premium seat fee is not refundable if you cancel; and if the restaurant cancels, you are refunded in full.
You may cancel an advance reservation at any time under section 17 of the Consumer Protection Act, subject to a reasonable cancellation charge. No cancellation charge applies where the booking cannot be honoured because of death or hospitalisation of the person it was made for.
The seven-day cooling-off right in section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act does not apply to these bookings, because section 42(2)(j) excludes catering and leisure services provided on a specific date.
Arriving at the restaurant
Please arrive at your reserved time. Restaurants hold tables for a limited period, and if you arrive significantly late your table may no longer be available — in which case the cancellation terms apply.
Restaurants may apply their own house rules, including dress code, minimum age, and maximum sitting duration. These are set by the restaurant, not by us.
Things outside our control
We rely on restaurants keeping their availability accurate. Very occasionally a restaurant may be unable to honour a confirmed reservation — for example due to closure, a private event, or circumstances beyond their control. Where that happens we will refund you in full, but we are not able to compensate you beyond the amounts you paid us.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with any reservation is limited to the amounts you paid us for that reservation. We are not liable for the food, service, conduct or premises of a restaurant, nor for indirect or consequential losses such as travel costs or missed occasions.
Acceptable use
Please do not make fraudulent or speculative bookings, attempt to interfere with the service, or use it for anything unlawful. We may cancel bookings and decline future ones where we reasonably believe this has happened.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your reservation is the one published when you booked. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
